Draft for the founder's review before October 1, 2026. Written from the project's terms outline and the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 internet-agreement rules.
Two things, clearly separated
- The software. makethempay.ca gives you legal information, fills official court forms from your answers, drafts letters and packages, counts deadlines, and keeps your case record. The software does not give legal advice. Using it does not make anyone your lawyer.
- Legal services. Mithril Law — Jonathan Kleiman, licensed Ontario lawyer — sells legal services on this site: letters, filings, document checks, calls, representation, and collections. Each is a limited-scope retainer between you and Mithril Law, under the Law Society of Ontario's rules. Every such service is marked "Mithril Law" before you buy.
You are the party
You decide what to send and what to file. You must read every document before you use it. The forms are the court's forms; the court's rules govern. Deadlines shown on the site are computed from the dates you enter and the rules as we have them; check them before you rely on them.
What we promise, and what we do not
We do not promise any result. Some claims are not worth pursuing, and the site will tell you when the numbers say so. We are not responsible for a claim you file, a deadline you miss, or a letter you send.
Prices, delivery, refunds
Prices are shown before you buy, in Canadian dollars, plus HST. Court fees are extra and go to the court.
- Software packages download at once after payment. If a download fails and we cannot fix it, you get a full refund.
- Lawyer work is authorized on your card when you order and charged only when Mithril Law delivers. If Mithril Law cannot act for you (for example, a conflict), the authorization is released and nothing is charged.
- The business plan bills monthly until you cancel from your account. Cancellation stops the next charge.
- Collections on contingency need a separate written agreement in the form required by O. Reg. 563/20.
A copy of your order is kept in your account and emailed to you when you have an email on file.
Acceptable use
Use the site for your own claims, or claims your business is owed. Do not send letters or use the reply links to harass anyone. Do not use the site to collect debts for third parties unless you are licensed to do so. We can close an account that breaks these rules.
Your content
Your story, documents, and case stay yours. You give us the right to process them to provide the service. Aggregate, anonymized statistics belong to us.
Our content
The site, its text, its code, and its designs belong to makethempay.ca. Court forms belong to the Government of Ontario.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability for the software is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002, or Mithril Law's duties under the Law Society's rules.
Governing law
Ontario, Canada. Disputes about the software go to the courts of Ontario.
